Hi there! My name is Tami Forster and I live in Farmington, Missouri. Our home was built in 1865 and is one of the older homes in the downtown Farmington area. My husband Randy and I have lived in our home for 27 years and raised our three children here. We have worked hard to keep the charm of this old home alive and love to fill it with family and friends to celebrate the holiday season.
Winter Wonderland Home Tour
Welcome to my home and I hope you enjoy our cozy little Christmas.
Entryway
The entryway is a fun space for me to welcome guests and give a cozy feel as soon as they enter. The bench and shelf stay all year round, but the decor changes from season to season. I love this nook area and the warmth it adds as soon as guests enter.
Living Room
The living room is the heart of our home; my family gathers around every year to enjoy each other and having a decorated home adds to the excitement of Christmas.
Years ago, I kept a tradition of decorating with lots of snowmen, and while my style has changed, this guy has stuck around. He was a gift from my mother and is placed closely by our Christmas tree. My kids named him Parson Brown from the song “Winter Wonderland,” and now their children have kept that tradition and love seeing Parson as they open their Christmas gifts.
The tree is adorned with memories of Christmas past and glows with twinkling lights, ribbons, and beading.
The ornaments are all different sizes and no two may be the same.
We have a tradition of making ornaments with family and friends. Some of these ornaments are so dear to me as family members and friends have passed, they leave their mark on my tree and every year I am reminded of the precious memories made.
My vintage crocks are filled with pine and cranberries to add a Christmas touch to our year-round decor. This is so simple but yet adds so much warmth and texture to our living space.
It is so easy to accent my everyday home decor with simple greens and reds. You will find a simple tree and logs on our coffee table that add an organic touch, while cozy accent pillows and throws add warmth to the room.
While ceramic trees have become a hot ticket item recently, mine dates back many years. It was my sweet grandmother “Gana’s” tree that my Aunt actually made. Seeing this lit up in my grandmother’s home was one of my favorite childhood memories, so of course, I proudly display it every year. I have had the honor of displaying my grandmother’s tree in my home for 26 years now. It is so very precious to me.
Dining Room
Our dining area is an extension of our living room and has the same cozy reds and greens. Pine cones and a burlap table runner accents the red perfectly. Different sprigs of pine tie in the warm Christmas green.
Kitchen
While the heart of the home is the living room, the kitchen is where the work is done! Silver trees and flocked wreaths add a touch of Christmas while smells of baklava fill our home. I package this Greek dessert with twigs of pine for our family and friends and it is always a hit!
Master Bedroom
Our master bedroom is of course a cozy place to wind down and the place all the grandkids want to be while waiting for Santa! These are the ones who keep the magic of Christmas Alive and every year, I look forward to sharing these traditions with them!
I love the ambiance of the Christmas lights.
While my home is my absolute favorite place to spend Christmas, my favorite memory of Christmas was the one where my family was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my granddaughter Hattie Sue. We sat at the hospital watching Christmas movies, listening to holiday music and the whole extended family waited anxiously for her to make her arrival. While it was non-traditional in a sense, the fact that we were welcoming another family member to share these traditions with made it oh so special!
Thank you for touring my home, and I hope wherever you are spending this holiday season, it is filled with love, tradition, and memories! Merry Christmas!
Tomorrow on the Winter Wonderland Tour is Janine from Pennsylvania. Janine moved into her home four years ago with her family and has been making it home ever since with a honey-do-list. As a guest host on QVC in the home and garden category, you can see Janine’s talent for interior styling throughout her home. Her traditional style with a twist of modern touches is truly jaw-dropping. You are not going to want to miss her home dressed up for the holidays.
