2019 Winter Wonderland Tour: Janine’s Home

Hi, I’m Janine, welcome into my “Highpoint Home for the Holidays” Christmas tour! This is the most wonderful time of the year for sure. The spirit, the lights, and the love in the air fill my heart with joy. I live in Pennsylvania with my family. I stay very busy with two young children and two jobs. I’m a guest host on QVC for the last 16 years in the home and garden category. And in the last two years, I became a realtor. So, make that 3 jobs…mom being number one and my favorite!

Winter Wonderland Home Tour

We bought this house four years ago on December 15th and it wasn’t love at first sight for me, but it was for my hubby. It was totally renovated by a flipper and he did a very nice job just not everything I would choose. So in the last four years, I’ve been super busy with a honey-do-list as long as a CVS receipt. Haha! My poor hubby is truly a saint!

Living Room

I still remember when my mom would bring out the Christmas decor. My heart would skip a beat and she always made it a winter wonderland. I definitely got my love for decorating from my mother. I hope I make my home as magical in my children’s eyes as she did for my brother and me.

Dining Room

To me, Christmas is all about FAMILY and FOOD! I’m Italian, so growing up, my uncle did the Feast of the Seven Fish and nothing was better than that night. Christmas Eve was and always will be the best day of the year. It’s full of pure magic — the promise of dreams coming true, laughter, love, and the true spirit of living- giving. Traditions are the most important memories we can give our loved ones.

Kitchen

I now host Christmas Eve and though we don’t do all seven fish, we do some and I’m trying not to lose the customs, but it will never be as good as when I was a kid.

Family Room

This past month I lost my last living grandfather at 95 years old. He loved Christmas so much. This year I’m dedicating it to him…to all of those that have passed on but gave me so much love for life and the holidays. Family is first for me…always.

Sunroom

We added a beautiful mudroom and a sunroom in year one. I dreamt about having one for years and I’m so glad we went for it! We are currently adding a tiny playroom before we move into refinishing the basement. Does anyone know where I can buy a money tree?

I’ll end this by saying the one thing super important to me is teaching my children the reason for the season- Jesus. It’s not the gifts under the tree that matter; it’s the love and kindness you give to others that are the true presents we give.
